Ok, Ive been looking into Vermont's laws and there is this statement in the code(its the only thing I have found...and Ive been researching for a while):

4010. A person who manufactures, sells or uses or possesses with intent to sell or use, an appliance known as or used for a gun silencer shall be fined $25.00 for each offense. The provisions of this section shall not prevent the use or possession of gun silencers for military purposes when so used or possessed under proper military authority and restriction.

So does this actually mean that suppressors aren't banned in state law, and there would only be a penalty for posession / use? What makes them not OK in VT?

The ATF will not allow a transfer there.

Well let's say I go visit some friends up in VT... Since my cans are on form 4s in PA, what's to keep me from bringing them with me since it doesn't violate state laws? I know my buddies would love to shoot my M16 ( I already have a 5320.20 ready to go to the ATF) with my M42K, as well as my evo and hems 2.

Oh yea, and what's the reasoning behind ATF not allowing transfers there? Is it valid or is it something crazy like calling a shoestring a machine gun?

The ATF enforces state laws for some reason. They would not allow a transfer because of the law you just cited.

I presume you could be fined $25.

Frankly I wish they'd cut that part out of state law so they'd allow transfers in. I'd then consider moving to NH or VT.
